緑茶カテキンの力！「ガン細胞の死滅プログラム」とは！The power of green tea catechins! What is "cancer cell killing program"!

　緑茶の渋味成分「カテキン」が人間の胃がん細胞を破壊して死滅させることを、三重大学医療技術短期大学部の樋廻（ひばさみ）博重教授（生化学）らの研究で明らかになりました。

カテキンは、胃潰瘍の原因で、胃がんとの関係が指摘されるピロリ菌の除去に有効とされ、発ガンを抑制する効果があると言われてきたが、今回、胃がん細胞そのものを破壊することが分かった。

樋廻教授らは、培養した人の胃がん細胞に、緑茶から抽出したカテキンを添加したところ、細胞核のDNA(デオキシリボ核酸)がフラグメンテーション(断片化)を引き起こし、プログラム細胞死(アポトーシス)させることに成功した。Professor Higuchi et al. 実験の結果、カテキンの中でも、主成分のエピガロカテキンガレートが最も有効だった。　胃がん細胞への効き目は、煎茶とほぼ同濃度の１リットル当たり0.05グラムの抽出量で、完全に死滅できたという。　これまでカテキンについては、がんを発症させたネズミなどの動物を使って延命効果をみる実験が行われてきたが、顕著に効くというデータは得られていないという。Experimental results showed that epigallocatechin gallate, the main component, was the most effective among catechins. 今回の研究は、緑茶の産地、静岡県中川根町の男性の胃がん死亡率が全国の５分の１だったことから、研究グループが緑茶の成分に着目した。　三井農林食品総合研究所（静岡県藤枝市）が緑茶から抽出したカテキンを使い昨年12月から実験を繰り返していた。　樋廻教授は「胃の中に緑茶カテキンができるだけ長い間存在するよう、緑茶をたくさん飲めば、予防になるのではないか」と話している。The research group focused on the ingredients of green tea, because the mortality rate of male gastric cancer in Shizuoka prefecture, Nagakagane cho, Shizuoka prefecture was 1/5 of the whole country.
